Fiji Mud Walt Smith – 2,7 kg/6 lbs feeds your reef aquarium the essential minerals and nutrients
Fiji Mud Walt Smith provides your reef aquarium with essential minerals and nutrients. This natural ocean mud comes from the beautiful islands of Fiji in the South Pacific and is crafted to nourish both hard and soft corals. It contains a variety of naturally occurring major and minor trace elements.
The mud is abundant with a wide range of organisms sized between 5 to 100 microns, which are beneficial for Acropora and other small polyp stony corals. You have two convenient sizes to choose from: a 12-lb Starter bucket or a 24-oz Booster jar to replenish naturally dissipated mud.
Use Instructions
When starting your refugium, begin with the 12-lb starter bucket and apply 1-2 inches directly to your refugium. For replenishing naturally dissipated mud, utilize the 24-ounce booster can. Alternatively, you can add this product directly to your aquarium substrate at a rate of one teaspoon (5 ml) per 100 gallons (380 L) twice a week. To use this method, mix the appropriate amount of mud with aquarium water and pour it directly into the water flow. The water may become cloudy, but it will clear up by the next day.
Fiji Mud Walt Smith Tips
- Replace about 20-30% of the mud every 4-6 months. The mud will naturally replenish some of its nutrients through normal cycling and algae growth.
- You can easily add mud to any existing live sand you have. It is not advisable to discard any established sand. Instead, layer 1 inch of mud on top of the existing sand or mix the two together.
- When you introduce mud into your tank, expect some temporary cloudiness in the water. If some mud settles on your corals, do not worry. Simply create some wave action in front of your corals, and the mud should sink and settle at the bottom.
- The best way to add mud to your refugium is to turn it off while mixing the mud and let it stand until the mud settles (approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour). Once settled, you can restart your refugium.
Fiji Mud Walt Smith Storage Instructions
Store unopened containers in a cool place. After opening, it is best to refrigerate the mud. For optimal results, use it within six months from the sticker date.
