Fiji Mud Walt Smith is an excellent choice for enriching your reef aquarium with vital minerals and nutrients. This natural reef mud sourced from the beautiful South Pacific is designed to provide a nourishing environment for both hard and soft corals.
- Natural South Pacific reef mud fills your refugium with minerals and nutrients.
- Contains trace elements and small organisms that support the health of your corals.
This incredible mud is packed with essential trace elements and a diverse range of organisms sized between 5 to 100 microns, which are particularly beneficial for Acropora and other small polyp stony corals. You can choose from two sizes: a 12-lb Starter bucket or a 24-oz Booster jar for replenishing naturally dissipated mud.
Fiji Mud Walt Smith Use Instructions
When starting your refugium, simply use the 12-lb starter bucket and apply 1-2 inches directly into your refugium. For replenishing the mud, utilize the 24-ounce booster can. Alternatively, you can add this product directly to your aquarium substrate at a rate of one teaspoon (5 ml) for every 100 gallons (380 L) twice a week. To use this method, mix the appropriate amount of mud with aquarium water and pour it directly into the water flow. Expect the water to become cloudy, but do not worry; it should clear up by the next day.
Fiji Mud Walt Smith Tips
- Replace 20-30% of the mud every 4-6 months. The mud will naturally replenish some of its nutrients through the normal cycling process and algae growth.
- You can easily incorporate mud into any existing live sand. It is not advisable to discard any established sand. Instead, either layer 1 inch of mud on top of the existing sand or mix them together.
- When you add mud to your tank, anticipate some water cloudiness for a short while. If some mud settles on your coral, do not panic. Just create some wave action in front of your corals, and the mud should settle at the bottom.
- The best way to add mud to your refugium is to turn it off during the mixing process and allow the mud to settle for about 30 minutes to 1 hour. Once settled, you can restart your refugium.
Fiji Mud Walt Smith Storage Instructions
For optimal storage, keep unopened containers in a cool place. After opening, refrigerate the product. It is best to use it within six months from the sticker date.
