- Permanently eliminates heavy metals to enhance aquarium water quality
- Reusable multiple times – just remove, rinse, dry, and store for later
MetaSorb UHC is designed to permanently eliminate hidden heavy metal pollutants, helping to restore the quality of your aquarium water. This product quickly binds and removes metals that may originate from various sources such as water supply, food, artificial seawater mixes, therapeutic treatments, and corroding metal equipment like pumps and magnets.
You can use MetaSorb UHC for:
- Pre-treating new water or newly mixed artificial seawater
- Removing copper medications
- Eliminating metals leached from corroding equipment
MetaSorb UHC is a patented, high-capacity polymer developed for the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Superfund Program. It can remove all excess metals within just a few hours to a few days. The media pouch is suitable for aquariums ranging from 1 to 250 gallons and effectively removes up to 80 ppm of metals from 940 liters. There is also a larger pouch available for 500-800 gallon aquariums that removes up to 120 ppm from 500 gallons.
Simply place the cloth media bag into any canister filter, hang-on-the-back power filter, or in flow-through sections of any sump or filter chamber. You can remove, dry, and store MetaSorb UHC for future use, allowing for multiple uses.
Did You Know? Mysterious health issues in fish, corals, and other invertebrates may arise when heavy metals reach toxic levels.
Directions: Rinse the cloth bag for 30 seconds in clean water before use. Please do not cut or open the bag. Just place it in any canister filter, hang-on-the-back power filter, or in flow-through sections of any sump or filter. Alternatively, you can use the fabric loop at the top corner with a zip tie to attach the bag in a high-flow location. The product effectively removes excess metals within a few hours to a few days when matched correctly to your aquarium’s capacity.
IMPORTANT: MetaSorb should not be used continuously for more than 10 days. After use, remove the pouch, rinse it briefly, and lay it flat to dry before storing for later use.
Note: The glass beads inside the bag help it sink properly. The polymer may increase in volume and change color as it binds with metals. MetaSorb does not remove alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, strontium, or organics.
Medications: Please remove MetaSorb from the aquarium when using any medication to treat the water. After treatment, it can effectively remove copper medications.
Trace Element Supplements: Remove MetaSorb from the aquarium for one day after adding vitamins and trace elements to the water.
Capacity: MetaSorb has an ultra-high capacity for binding metals. The version for 1-250 gallons (Mfg# MET1) removes up to 80 ppm of metals from 940 liters, while the version for 250-800 gallons (Mfg# MET500) removes up to 120 ppm of metals from 500 gallons. There is no risk of overdose, and once the metals bind to the polymer, they cannot be released back into the water. Leaving the bag in the aquarium for extended periods is safe, and it can be reused multiple times based on metal concentration and water volume.
MetaSorb binds the following metals: Aluminum, Cadmium, Cerium, Cobalt, Copper, Dysprosium, Erbium, Europium, Gadolinium, Gold, Holmium, Iron, Lanthanum, Lead, Lutetium, Manganese, Mercury, Neodymium, Nickel, Samarium, Scandium, Selenium, Silver, Terbium, Ytterbium, and Zinc.
General Information: An excess of heavy metals in the water is harmful to aquatic life. These metals may enter the water from various sources, including water supply, food, artificial seawater mixes, therapeutic treatments, and corroding metal equipment. Health issues in fish, corals, and other invertebrates can occur when heavy metals reach toxic levels. MetaSorb UHC is created with patented high-capacity polymers developed for the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Superfund Program. It is insoluble in water and non-toxic, allowing for the rapid binding and permanent removal of metals from both fresh and saltwater, making it possible to restore water quality. The product is a fine powder packaged in a small cloth media bag that can be easily placed in any area with high water flow for effective contact with the polymer.
