WAV Starter Kit (2 WAV’s, 1 LINK Module, Powersupply)
WAV™ Extreme flow for your aquarium
The WAV is designed to move water efficiently. It can handle more than 4000 gallons per hour! What is even better is that it is smaller, uses less power, and operates more quietly than many popular powerhead pumps available today.
A powerhead that answers all your needs:
- Extreme flow: Approximately 4000+ gph (15,120 lph)
- Compact size: Smaller than most similar flow pumps
- Directional flow: Pivots within a 40-degree range and can be rotated – perfect for rear wall installation
- Safe operation: Runs on 24V DC
- Low power consumption: Less than 35W at the wall
- Multiple operational modes: Random flow modes, mirror, inverse, etc.
- Easy to clean: Automatically shuts off when removed from water
- Incredibly quiet: Possibly the quietest driver on the market
- Magnetic mount: Works on glass up to 1″ thick
- Easy installation: Just a single thin wire for power and control (1LINK interface makes it simple!)
Directional flow allows stealth mounting options
Unfortunately, many leading water moving pumps only direct flow perpendicular to the glass, which limits options for aquarists and can obstruct views. A powerhead that can be pointed in all directions is not a new concept, but most hardware for this purpose can be bulky and unattractive. The WAV addresses both issues with an innovative articulating mount. Research has shown that most customers do not need to point their pump at extreme angles; typically, a 20-degree adjustment is sufficient.
With its low-profile magnetic mount, the WAV offers a 40-degree range of motion on the pivot and can rotate 360 degrees. This flexibility allows for better flow management without obstructing the beautiful views of your aquarium.
Endless flow options for every aquarist
We understand that flow preferences vary among aquarists. That is why Apex Fusion controls the WAV with various patterned flow and random settings. You can even set multiple pumps to mirror or inversely match one another. The user-friendly Apex Fusion scheduling graph makes it easy to create significant waves in the morning, stir up detritus in the afternoon, and reduce flow at night. The flow in your aquarium can truly reflect your unique style.

Detailed, real-time pump status and AI
This feature is a first for this product segment. Within Apex Fusion, you can monitor the operational details of every WAV in your tank. You will be able to view the mode, RPM, temperature range, and current status of the pump. Apex Fusion takes it a step further by monitoring pump parameters and using AI to take corrective actions, such as stopping the pump and alerting you via text or email when a malfunction occurs.

Snails, Falls, Stalls – No Worries!
Snails and other obstructions can be a nightmare for powerheads. They can cause damage and create a mess. Many pumps cannot even detect when they are out of water, leading to cavitation during water changes or damaging themselves. The WAV is equipped with advanced sensors that significantly reduce these occurrences. Even when taking the pump out of water for cleaning, it automatically turns off without needing to be powered down.
Say goodbye to cable mess.
Cables can be quite the hassle. Even so-called “wireless” devices often come with a jumble of cables and power supplies that clutter tank stands. The 1LINK system simplifies this by allowing you to connect up to five devices to one power supply, all controllable through your Apex. It includes three 1LINK source connections for powering and communicating with WAV pumps, a DŌS, or future 1LINK devices. Plus, there are two 24V DC switched connections for future add-ons or DIY solutions.

A MULTITUDE OF MODES
The WAV pumps can create nearly infinite combinations of flow types, intensity, and interactions between pumps. The best part? No programming is necessary! It is as simple as moving dots on a graph and selecting from a menu of flow options.
1LINK™ – Easy, one-click installation
The WAV is the first in a series of aquarium products from Neptune Systems that utilize a completely new interface. While many in the aquarium community are leaning towards wireless technology, we have chosen to go the opposite route with a wired connection. Wireless connectivity from your smartphone or tablet to your Apex (or other controllers) is convenient, and we support that. However, using wireless for inter-device connectivity in aquariums—often less than 6 feet long—is unnecessary and can compromise reliability.
Our philosophy is that for short distances, wireless is more of a solution in search of a problem. Additionally, wireless devices still require a wire for power, and they often come with complicated setup processes that can be frustrating.
After thorough consideration, we introduced 1LINK. It combines one power supply, one module (supporting up to three 1LINK devices), and a one-click connection wire that provides both power and two-way communication to your Apex. Setup is as easy as click and go.
Fewer wires, less configuration hassle, and ultimately, lower costs for you!
Size matters when it comes to the pump wire
When it comes to powerhead pumps, the smaller the wire, the better it is for hiding purposes. This applies both inside and outside the aquarium. Some pumps feature larger wires and motors on the outside, but they still create a visual distraction. Many other manufacturers’ cables have larger diameters, sometimes nearly three times the mass.

Quiet Operation
Many of the popular water-moving pumps today are anything but quiet. The sounds can resonate through floors and be heard in other rooms. Our testing has shown that the WAV features one of the quietest driver systems on the market.
FLO™ – A new measurement for your aquarium
Understanding what is happening inside your aquarium is crucial to maintaining its health. Observing conditions and outcomes allows you to learn and make informed decisions. Traditionally, we have relied on measurements like temperature, pH, ORP, and salinity to find the best parameters for our tanks. While there is no magic formula, this data is essential for effective aquarium management.
Light and Flow – The two most important needs of a successful reef aquarium
A new measurement gaining traction in the reefkeeping community is PAR, which measures lighting intensity. With PAR, you can assess how lighting affects your aquarium and compare setups with fellow aquarists. We even offer a product to measure and log PAR with your APEX – the PMK – PAR Monitoring Kit.
But what about flow? Experienced aquarists often emphasize that both lighting and flow are critical for a thriving reef aquarium. Until now, there has not been a real-time method to monitor the output of flow devices (powerheads/wavemakers) in your aquarium. The WAV and Apex Fusion change that.
Since the WAV continuously communicates with Apex Fusion, it tracks how much flow it generates and introduces a new measurement standard we call FLO. Additionally, all WAVs in your aquarium contribute to an overall FLO measurement, allowing you to compare your aquarium’s flow to others or track your own FLO history.
