Tropic Marin Bio-Magnesium is one of the most important minerals of seawater
Magnesium is a crucial mineral found in seawater, alongside calcium and strontium. Some corals and coralline red algae incorporate magnesium into their skeletons, and it plays a vital role in the photosynthesis of algae, helping to transform carbon dioxide and light into organic materials. Hence, magnesium is essential for maintaining a healthy aquatic ecosystem.
Tropic Marin Bio-Magnesium offers magnesium and carbon dioxide in a form that is biologically optimal for use. This helps prevent magnesium deficiency in seawater and restores the natural balance of alkaline earth metals, which is fundamental for a thriving coral reef in your aquarium.
- Provides biologically ideal magnesium supply in crystalline form for the reef aquarium
- Supports strong skeletal growth of corals and coralline red algae
- Supplies carbon dioxide for zooxanthellae, enhancing photosynthesis and calcification
- Maintains the natural ionic composition and pH of the water
- Contains no unnatural by-products
- Free from phosphates and nitrates
- Allows for precise dosing and easy application
Ingredients
Contains magnesium salts, sodium, potassium, and 70 trace elements.
Application & Dosage
The average magnesium content in natural seawater is around 1280–1300 mg/l. Start by measuring the magnesium concentration in your aquarium water and estimating the total water volume of your tank system, including decorations like stones.
Powder
Add one measuring spoon of Tropic Marin Bio-Magnesium to increase the magnesium level by approximately 10 mg/l for every 100 liters (26 gallons) of water.
The maximum recommended dose is 2 measuring spoons per 100 liters (26 gallons) of aquarium water per day.
To apply, fill the dosing spoon with Tropic Marin Bio-Magnesium and level it off with a scraper. Stir the contents into the water surface to ensure it dissolves thoroughly. Avoid letting larger, undissolved crystals directly contact the corals, and only add the next spoonful once the previous one has completely dissolved.
Avoid concentrations exceeding 1600 mg/l of magnesium, as this may negatively affect various organisms in your aquarium.
Over time, you may notice a slight increase in the specific gravity of the water. We recommend checking the specific gravity regularly. In addition to monitoring magnesium levels, keep an eye on calcium content as well. Use the Tropic Marin Calcium/Magnesium-Combitest Professional to track these levels, and adjust them with Tropic Marin Carbo-Calcium and Tropic Marin Bio-Magnesium as necessary.
