Tropic Marin Bio-Magnesium is one of the most important minerals of seawater
Besides calcium and strontium, certain corals and coralline red algae also store magnesium in their skeletons. Magnesium plays a vital role in the photosynthesis of algae, which involves converting carbon dioxide and light into organic compounds. Therefore, magnesium is one of the essential minerals found in seawater.
Tropic Marin Bio-Magnesium delivers magnesium and carbon dioxide in a form that is biologically optimal, helping to prevent magnesium deficiency in seawater and restoring the natural balance of alkaline earth metals. These factors are crucial for maintaining a healthy coral reef in your aquarium.
- For biologically ideal magnesium supply in crystalline form in the reef aquarium
- Supports strong skeletal growth of coral and coralline red algae
- Provides carbon dioxide to assist zooxanthellae in photosynthesis and calcification
- Maintains the natural ionic composition and pH of the water
- Free from unnatural by-products
- Contains no phosphates or nitrates
- Allows for precise dosing and easy application
Ingredients
Magnesium salts, sodium, potassium, and 70 trace elements.
Application & Dosage
Natural seawater typically has an average magnesium content of 1280–1300 mg/l. Begin by measuring the magnesium concentration of your aquarium water and estimating the total water volume of your tank, including decorations like stones.
Liquid
By adding ½ fl. oz./15 ml, you will increase the magnesium level of 10 US-gal./38 l by approximately 21 mg/l (ppm).
The maximum recommended dosage is ½ fl. oz./15 ml per 10 US-gal./38 l of aquarium water per day. Tropic Marin Bio-Magnesium Liquid can be added directly to the tank water or through a dosing pump.
To refill the bottle, combine 16 oz./450 g of crystalline Tropic Marin® Bio-Magnesium with reverse osmosis water to create a solution of 0.26 US-gal./1 liter.
It is advisable to avoid magnesium concentrations exceeding 1600 mg/l, as various organisms may respond negatively to such high levels.
Over time, you may notice a slight increase in the specific gravity of the water. It is important to check the specific gravity regularly. In addition to monitoring magnesium concentration, keep an eye on calcium levels. Utilize the Tropic Marin Calcium/Magnesium Combitest Professional for tracking these levels, and use Tropic Marin Carbo-Calcium and Tropic Marin Bio-Magnesium to make adjustments when necessary.
