AquaForest Natural Substrate – 7500ml NUTRIENT RICH, PEAT & CLAY BASED SUBSTRATE BASE FOR AQUASCAPES & PLANTED AQUARIUMS
AF Natural Substrate is a nutrient-rich, peat and clay based substrate designed specifically for aquascapes and planted aquariums. This product contains readily available micronutrients and plant food that create a fertile, natural environment, making it ideal for long-term plant support and growth.
AF Natural Substrate promotes the development of a healthy root system, helping your aquatic plants flourish. The natural Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC) of the peat and clay will absorb any excess nutrients from the water, making them accessible through the roots or releasing them back into the water when it becomes depleted.
Features and Benefits:
- Carefully selected peat creates excellent conditions for root systems, supplying plants with all necessary minerals and trace elements.
- Clay improves the texture and serves as the base, achieving superb consistency.
- Similar to peat, clay acts as a natural layer for storing excess nutrients and maintaining biological balance in the tank.
- Micronutrient contents are supplemented under laboratory supervision to ensure that aquatic plants receive an abundance of trace elements while keeping the chemical balance of the tank stable.
- AF Natural Substrate is rich in micronutrients, so for the first three months, Aquaforest does not recommend using fertilizers containing micronutrients unless the plants show visible signs of deficiency.
How to Use:
- Install a heater cable if you are using one.
- Spread the substrate on the bottom of the tank and compact it to achieve approximately a 2-2.5 cm thick layer.
- Cover with about 3 cm of gravel or sand.
- Gently fill the aquarium with about 15 cm of water. To avoid disturbing the substrate, we suggest placing a plate or dish on the bottom and directing the stream of water onto it.
- Place the plants in the substrate.
- Fill the aquarium with water.
10 L of AF Natural Substrate should be sufficient for a 200 L aquarium with a bottom size of 100 cm x 40 cm. The substrate can lower and stabilize the pH of the water, so it is advisable to use a dedicated test or probe.
