Dry Base Rock serves as both aquascaping material and a biofilter medium. It is safe to say that live rock plays a crucial role in your aquarium. We aim for it to look and behave as naturally as possible. Truly “live” rock can only be as good as the Dry Base Rock you build it on.

For reef aquaria, the ideal substructure is the one that corals grow on in the wild: Natural Base Rock. This rock is primarily composed of calcium carbonate skeletons left behind by previous stony coral residents. In fact, coral reefs are primarily made up of base rock, with only a relatively thin layer of living corals on the surface.

Due to its numerous little pockets and tiny pores, freshly deposited material can host many ecologically beneficial organisms, ranging from nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria to microcrustaceans such as copepods.

A box contains 18-20kg of 12-30cm rocks (5-8 stones). These rocks can be easily glued with StoneFix.
