The Balling Light Set from Fauna Marin is a complete set of high purity Balling salts, additives and accessories to start immediately with the Balling Light method
Balling Light (not to be confused with Balling Lite and Classic) is a very user-friendly method for supplying your aquarium with calcium, magnesium, carbonates, and various trace elements.
In Germany, this method has become a popular alternative to using a lime reactor. Many aquarists are also taking advantage of Fauna Marin Balling salts alongside a lime reactor to address any chemical imbalances that may arise from using a lime reactor.

DIFFERENCES WITH BALLING CLASSIC
The primary difference between Balling Classic and Balling Light is that Balling Light is significantly simpler and more cost-effective.
Using chloride-based additives (such as calcium chloride and magnesium chloride) can increase the chloride levels in your aquarium, potentially disrupting the ion balance. Balling Classic addresses this by replacing a portion of aquarium water with mineral salt (sodium chloride-free salt).
While you can add mineral salt to Balling Light if you choose, it is not required if you perform weekly water changes of 10%. These regular changes help maintain stable chloride levels and ion balance without needing additional mineral salt.
Maintaining magnesium levels is also simpler with Balling Light. It only requires one type of magnesium salt, whereas Balling Classic necessitates a second type (particularly Magnesium sulfate heptahydrate).
Another important advantage of Balling Light is that the salts do not need to be weighed to determine the exact amount needed for solution preparation, making the method much more user-friendly.
DIFFERENCES WITH CALCACTORS
What are the advantages compared to a lime reactor? Balling Light provides more stable water values and lower initial costs (whether you use a dosing pump or not) compared to a calcium reactor setup.
