This product is suitable for both freshwater and marine aquariums. Two blocks can treat up to 1,000L / 264 Gal.
You can use the blocks directly in your sump. It is recommended to stack two Anaerobic Blocks horizontally and place a Denitrification Catalyst in between them. As illustrated above, the Denitrification Catalyst will be slowly used up and should be replaced every two months.
The Nano-Ceramic beads in the Anaerobic Blocks are specially treated with proprietary technology to excel at establishing anaerobic heterotrophic bacteria that thrive in anoxic environments.
Denitrification is becoming increasingly popular for removing nitrogen from sewage, municipal, industrial, and agricultural wastewater to help combat pollution. Various denitrification reactors and methods are now effectively removing nitrate from agricultural runoff and manure. The Anaerobic Blocks integrate this technology into a compact package that fits perfectly in your sump. The Anaerobic Block should be cleaned or replaced every six months for optimal results. However, when you clean or replace old Anaerobic Blocks, please do not replace all of them at the same time. It is best to clean or replace half of the Anaerobic Blocks to ensure that sufficient bacterial colonies remain to reestablish themselves in the newly cleaned or replaced blocks.
