The SKY is a powerful 200w LED aquarium light featuring patented diffuser technology that blends 104 LEDs to produce a beautifully uniform field of coral-health-optimized light. Inspired by nature, the specialized diffuser array mimics the atmospheric filtering effect, smoothing out the output of the robust LED array. This innovation addresses common issues such as hot spots and disco-ball effects found in many LED lights, resulting in one of the closest outputs to natural light available. Additionally, the SKY has a large surface area of diffused light that emulates the horizon-to-horizon effect of the atmosphere, significantly reducing shadowing.

With the SKY, you can achieve wider and more even coverage with fewer fixtures, ensuring the health, growth, and vibrant color needs of even the most demanding corals are met. While some users may prefer a natural daylight spectrum for their reef lighting, many lean towards a blue-purple hue to really enhance their coral colors. Regardless of your preference, the SKY offers the programming options and flexibility needed to achieve your desired look without compromising the quality of light output.

Apex Connected or Standalone Operation

If you do not have an Apex, you can wirelessly connect to the SKY via Bluetooth and operate it using your mobile device. For those who have an Apex controller, connecting the SKY to your Apex ecosystem is effortless—simply plug its integrated AquaBus cable into an available port on one of your modules or the base unit. This allows for a quick and easy setup. If you own multiple SKY units, the included Y-cable enables you to chain them together, requiring only one AquaBus connection on your Apex.

Advanced Thermal Management

The SKY features an advanced thermal management system that goes beyond just the two visible fans. Why two fans? With this setup, the SKY can operate at much lower RPMs, keeping the LED cooler and ensuring a longer lifespan for your light. Additionally, running the fans at lower speeds results in quieter operation—the SKY is, in fact, the quietest actively-cooled LED in its power class, producing just 33dB at one meter when set to 100%. In comparison, the leading competitor exceeds 40dB at full power.

The fans work in conjunction with a temperature and power monitoring algorithm that manages their speed. Should one fan fail, the other will take over, keeping the SKY operational and safely cooled until you can obtain a replacement. Furthermore, if the SKY encounters excessively high ambient air temperatures that hinder its ability to cool itself, it will throttle the power to the LEDs to maintain safe operating temperatures.

Unlike many lights on the market that restrict you to their specific mounting solutions, Neptune has broadened your options by adopting a widely used standard from one of the most popular brands available. Alongside our sleek black SKY Hanging Kit, you now have various ways to mount your SKY over your aquarium. This makes the SKY an even more cost-effective option when considering a lighting upgrade. Moreover, we are collaborating with third parties to develop even more mounting solutions for our SKY customers.

Adjustable Shimmer

With surface water agitation, the SKY produces a gentle shimmer that most aquarists find appealing. During the development of the SKY, we identified that placing a diffuser in front of the LED typically diminishes nearly all shimmer, which is not ideal. Therefore, we designed a hybrid diffuser featuring clear covers called Shimz over four openings in the diffuser, allowing the white LEDs to shine through without diffusion. These white LEDs restore the shimmer lost by the diffuser—just the right amount. For those who prefer even less shimmer, we offer an option to swap in SKY Diffused Shimz, available for separate purchase.
