Neptune Systems Trident Marine Aquarium Water Analyzer
The Neptune Systems Trident is an automated testing system designed to regularly check the alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium levels in your saltwater aquarium. It then sends this information to your Apex, allowing you to receive alerts and adjust your dosing as needed. When paired with the DOS (available separately), it creates a fully automated system for maintaining consistent supplement levels.
HIGHLIGHTED FEATURES:
- Automatically tests seawater for alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium.
- Conducts up to 12 magnesium tests per day with +/- 15 ppm precision.
- Conducts up to 24 alkalinity tests per day with +/-.05 dKh precision.
- Conducts up to 12 calcium tests per day with +/- 15 ppm precision.
- Uses approximately 7.9ml of sample water per parameter tested.
- Takes about 7 minutes to test each parameter.
You can perform up to one month of testing before needing to change the reagents, based on a base level testing schedule of 4x Alk, 2x Ca, and 2x Mg per day. When combined with the DŌS system (available separately), the data from the Trident can automatically adjust the amount of additives dispensed to maintain stability at user-defined set points. Say goodbye to syringes, vials, color indicators, and expiration dates for alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium. Now, with minimal effort, you can access real-time values for these parameters from anywhere in the world!
HOW IT WORKS:
The Neptune Systems Trident operates as a self-contained automatic titration colorimeter. Essentially, it automates the process of testing your water, which typically involves performing a color-changing titration and interpreting the results.
On a scheduled basis, the Trident carefully mixes its reagents with a small amount of sample water from your aquarium. During this process, it measures the necessary amounts to achieve a color change, as determined by the electronic colorimeter. After completing the titration, it sends the sample/reagent fluid to your waste container and logs the test results into your Apex.
Neptune Systems Trident REQUIRES:
- Apex or ApexEL (not Apex Classic, Lite, or Jr.)
- External waste container or drain (not included)
- Must be located within 1.2 meters of the water source being tested.
EASY PLUG AND PLAY SET UP:
You can go from unboxing to testing in under 15 minutes! Unlike other systems, there are no reagents to mix, tubes to cut, or pumps or probes to calibrate. Simply plug in one cable, connect two tubes, and run the setup task on the Apex Fusion mobile app. It provides guidance through helpful videos along the way.
CONSISTENCY AND PRECISION, TEST AFTER TEST:
The Neptune Systems Trident tests with a precision of +/- 0.05 dKh for alkalinity and +/- 15 ppm for calcium and magnesium.
UNDERSTAND YOUR AQUARIUM LIKE NEVER BEFORE:
Once you start receiving regular data from the Trident, you will be amazed at the insights you can gain. You will observe trends such as the daily cycle of calcium carbonate uptake, salinity drops linked to magnesium levels, and any miscalculations in calcium dosing. This enhanced understanding will ultimately help you maintain a healthier and more successful reef.
OUT OF RANGE ACTIONS AND ALERTS:
You can configure your Apex to alert you or take immediate actions whenever a parameter falls outside your specified safe zone. For instance, if you are dosing an alkalinity solution and there is a misconfiguration, it could lead to overdosing your tank. The Trident will catch this, notify you, and give you time to make corrections before it is too late, helping to protect your aquarium. Additionally, the data from the Trident can be used to control other devices, such as dosers or solenoids, for further protection of your tank.
AUTOMATIC DOSING CONTROL – ULTIMATE STABILITY:
The more stable your alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium levels are, the better your corals will grow and thrive. However, since coral uptake of these supplements can vary, it often requires more testing and constant adjustments to dosing levels. The Neptune Systems Trident addresses this issue, when paired with one or more DŌS systems, through Automatic Dosing Control (ADC).
When configured on the Apex, ADC takes the results from the Trident and gradually adjusts the amount of additive your DŌS delivers. Do not worry; this feature is designed with safety in mind. You set your target value and starting dosing amount, and ADC will only adjust that dosing level by +/- 35%. If it requires a larger adjustment to maintain your target value, the Apex will stop ADC, revert to your starting dosing amount, and notify you to manually adjust your dosing level. You can then re-enable ADC, and it will continue guiding your DŌS to keep you as close to your target value as possible. This functionality can be applied to all three tests – alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium – and you can use one test value to adjust multiple additives delivered by the DŌS (e.g., Triton system).
SIMPLE, INFREQUENT REAGENT CHANGES:
With the default testing schedule of four alkalinity tests, two calcium tests, and two magnesium tests per day, the reagents inside the Apex will last a full month. Replacing the reagent is straightforward; just slide out the drawer, remove the old bottle(s), and insert new ones. If desired, you can also run a calibration with the included calibration standard.
REASONABLY PRICED REAGENTS:
The cost of reagents can be a significant concern for hobbyists considering a test kit or automated system. We designed the Neptune Systems Trident with affordability in mind, keeping costs as low as possible. Our reagent kits come in two-month supplies (based on the default testing schedule of 4-Alk/2-Ca/2-Mg per day). Each kit includes two bottles of Reagent A (changed every month), one each of Reagent B and C (changed every two months), and a bottle of calibration seawater sample. The reagent kit provides at least 240 alkalinity tests and 120 tests each for calcium and magnesium.
SUPER-QUIET:
You may hear the Neptune Systems Trident operating if you listen closely or are in an extremely quiet room. However, compared to other automated testing systems, it is significantly quieter. When placed inside your cabinet with other equipment, you will likely not notice it at all.
