PhosBan 454g
Two Little Fishies PhosBan 454g phosphate removing filter media is designed to permanently eliminate phosphate.
- Great for both saltwater and freshwater aquariums.
- Non-toxic filter media that lasts several months in typical aquariums.
- Permanently removes phosphate from your aquarium.
- 150-gram jar, includes a filter bag, and treats up to 565 liters.
PhosBan from Two Little Fishies is a popular choice for chemical filter media because it does not leach substances back into your aquarium. It has the largest adsorption capacity of any phosphate filtering media available. The ferric oxide hydroxide-based granules also absorb organics and other pollutants. You can use it just like activated carbon, and a filter bag is included. It is non-toxic and can last several months in typical aquariums, making it suitable for both saltwater and freshwater environments.
Directions: You can rinse PhosBan briefly before use, but please avoid stirring the granules, as they are friable and could be pulverized. Place PhosBan in a tightly-packed media bag or between two layers of fine filter floss in any flow-through filter or filter chamber, ensuring that water flows through it evenly. PhosBan works best in an up-flow filter, such as the PhosBan Reactor, but ensure that the flow is reduced enough to prevent the granules from tumbling, which would grind them into powder.
Recommended Usage: Use 50 grams per 200 liters of saltwater and 50 grams per 400 liters of freshwater. PhosBan is safe to use at more than five times the recommended quantity; however, at high dosages, it may cause a drop in alkalinity. It is advisable to monitor alkalinity levels and adjust with buffer or other alkalinity supplements if necessary. The useful life of PhosBan depends on the phosphate concentration in your aquarium and can be effective for several months before needing replacement. Replace PhosBan when phosphate levels begin to rise.
Contents: Synthetic ferric oxide hydroxide.
Storage: Keep PhosBan in a tightly closed container. It has a shelf life of at least three years when stored properly.
General Information: PhosBan is a synthetic ferric oxide hydroxide in granular form, ideally suited for use in aquarium filters. Its porous structure features a high surface area with many adsorption sites to bind significant quantities of phosphate. PhosBan also absorbs silicate, arsenic, and water-staining organic compounds. Neither phosphate nor any other substances are released back into the water, even after full saturation. PhosBan is safe for continuous use in both freshwater and saltwater aquariums and ponds. To prevent phosphate accumulation issues, it is advisable to keep the concentration of phosphate below 0.015 ppm as P. This target can easily be achieved by using PhosBan continuously. It is recommended to use PhosBan immediately when setting up a new aquarium to ensure that PO4 concentrations do not rise. With PhosBan, you can maintain large fish populations without accumulating PO4. In reef aquariums, PhosBan helps maintain the low phosphate levels necessary for the rapid growth of hard and soft corals.
Warning: Please avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothing. Do not ingest. Keep away from food and do not inhale dust. It is advisable to use a dust mask when handling. In case of contact with skin, wash thoroughly with soap and plenty of water. For contact with eyes, flush with plenty of water and seek medical attention. For aquarium use only. Keep out of reach of children.
