The Red Sea Reef Foundation Starter Kit includes 250 ml of Reef Foundation A, 250 ml of Reef Foundation B, and 250 ml of Reef Foundation C. These products provide essential elements for coral skeletons: calcium, magnesium, strontium, and carbonate. While all elements in natural seawater contribute to optimal water conditions, some are particularly crucial.

The three key elements that form the foundation of a healthy reef environment are:

• Calcium (Ca)
• Magnesium (Mg)
• Carbonates (CO3)

These elements significantly influence water chemistry, affecting pH stability, alkalinity, and ionic strength, as well as many biological processes in corals, such as skeletal formation, ion exchange, and photosynthesis. The Red Sea foundation elements work together to support coral skeleton development. If these elements are not in balance, it can negatively impact the growth and health of your corals.

Reef Foundation A contains a calcium and strontium complex to support balanced coral skeleton formation. The concentration of this liquid supplement is such that 1 ml will elevate the calcium level of 100 liters (25 gallons) by 2 ppm.

Reef Foundation B offers a carbonate (kH) and buffering complex that also aids in balanced coral skeleton formation. This supplement consists of carbonate and other buffers which ensure an ideal relationship between pH and alkalinity. With this product, 1 ml will increase the alkalinity (kH) of 100 liters (25 gallons) by 0.036 meq/l (0.1 dKH).

Reef Foundation C features a blend of magnesium salts. Here, 1 ml will raise the magnesium level of 100 liters (25 gallons) by 1 ppm.
