Reef Factory Kh Smart Test kit quick measurement of carbonate hardness concentration in marine aquariums
The KH Smart test kit is part of a series of drop tests created by Reef Factory LAB. It is specifically designed for quick measurement of carbonate hardness concentration in marine aquariums within the comfort of your home. This kit allows you to conduct approximately 100 tests that range from 3 to 15 dKH.
Distinguishing features of the product:
- 100 tests ranging from 3 to 15 dKH
- Compatible with the Smart Reef system
- Interactive instructions
- New liquid formulation of all reagents
- Simplicity in performing and reading the test result
- Laboratory-confirmed quality
- Direct recommendations in the application
With Smart Reef, the drop test takes on a whole new meaning. Thanks to the integration with the application and the Dosing Panel, interpreting the results becomes very easy. The results presented on a clear scale provide straightforward recommendations on how to maintain the parameter in the optimal range. Additionally, the dosing panel saves the history of measurements and allows you to conveniently share your parameter history with other hobbyists. So much convenience in just one app!
How to take measurements with the KH Smart test kit:
- Take 5 ml of water from the aquarium using a syringe and pour it into the vial.
- Shake the KH reagent, then add 2 drops of the liquid to the test tube. Gently stir the vial in circular motions. The liquid in the test tube should turn green.
- Attach the dispensing needle to a 1 ml syringe.
- Draw up 1 ml of KH Reagent 2. The tip of the plunger should indicate exactly 1 ml. Note: Air between the liquid and the plunger does not affect the accuracy of the test.
- Using the syringe with the dispensing needle, add KH Reagent 2 drop by drop directly to the liquid in the test tube, ensuring it does not stick to the walls. Stir the tube after each drop and watch for a color change.
- The green solution will gradually shift to a transitional color – gray-brown. When you observe that the liquid has turned amaranth (purple), stop adding drops.
- Read the value of the remaining liquid in the syringe KH Reagent 2 as indicated by the plunger of the syringe. Compare this with the results table or enter it in the Smart Reef user panel.
What to do next:
Based on the test results, the Smart Reef system will provide you with supplementation recommendations to maintain the best living conditions for your corals. You can enter these recommendations manually, or if you have our metering pumps, you can send them directly to the pumps. This way, they will dispense the exact amounts of supplements needed to ensure your aquatic animals receive the essential elements they require.
