Many affordable carbon products available on the market are treated with phosphoric acid during their final preparation, often releasing high levels of phosphate into the water. However, RowaCarbon contains very low phosphate levels. Algae problems are frequently linked to the release of phosphate from activated carbon with high Phosphate Output Index (POI) levels, which can reach up to 14.0. Such levels inhibit lime synthesis in coralline algae, corals, and other organisms that require lime for their development.
