SPS Coral Food 40 g (Vitalis)
SPS Coral Food 40 g (Vitalis)
This micronized flake, with particle sizes ranging from approximately 100 to 400 micrometers, is designed to imitate the suspended particulate matter that corals capture in their polyps. Research indicates that proper feeding can enhance the photosynthesis rate and increase the number of Zooxanthellae within the coral. These tiny organisms convert sunlight energy into the chemical energy that corals need for growth.
Given the complexities of modern reef aquariums, it is difficult to provide specific instructions since every system is unique. Instead, we have compiled a general guide to help you maximize the benefits of our invertebrate product range.
SPS FOOD – Micronized Flake
Corals have adapted to feed at night when it is safe for them to extend their feeding polyps. The absence of coral polyp predators in our aquariums allows us to encourage coral feeding during the day. If you introduce a small amount of food about five minutes before the main feeding, it trains the coral to extend its polyps and prepare for the main meal.
If possible, turn off the sump pump or filter pump for 10 to 20 minutes while feeding, but keep the circulation pumps running to maintain food in suspension.
Mix the food with a small amount of tank water and target each coral using a turkey baster. If you cannot turn off the main pump, you can still use this delivery method by adding food upstream of your corals and allowing it to circulate. If you do not have a turkey baster, simply place a pinch of food directly under the water in an area with strong flow.

FEEDING GUIDE
Depending on the population density, feed daily or every other day.
Use one scoop of SPS food for every 50 liters of water. For heavily stocked aquariums, use two scoops for every 50 liters. For optimal results, mix the food with a small amount of aquarium water before adding it to the water flow.
Ensure that the coral is positioned in an area with sufficient flow to help remove any excess food particles.
Please avoid putting wet fingers in the pot.
Store in a cool, dry place.
