Tunze 3181 Algae Reactor incl. pump and Refugium LED suitable for aquaria up to 600L
The Tunze Macro Algae Reactor (MAR 3181) is designed for cultivating algae in seawater or plants in freshwater aquariums. This reactor can be conveniently placed in any filter basin or alongside the aquarium without needing external filter technology.
The water circulation within the reactor promotes the rotation of the algae culture, which helps reduce the number of light sources while supporting healthy plant growth. If necessary, you can also add extra light sources to the device.
Many marine aquarists cultivate Chaetomorpha “Spaghetti Algae” to help eliminate nitrates and phosphates from the aquatic environment. Regularly harvesting a handful of algae is usually enough to maintain the biological balance in an aquarium, making this a cost-effective and simple alternative to various chemicals or resins.
You can also grow Naja Grass (Najas guadalupensis) to enhance the quality of freshwater systems, such as cichlid biotopes.
