Ecotech Marine Vortech MP40mQD QuietDrive aquarium flow pump (mobius)
The VorTech pumps are designed to recreate the ocean’s environment right in your aquarium. With a wide range of adjustable flow settings, the opportunities for customization are endless. These pumps feature a magnetic coupling, allowing the motor to sit outside the aquarium. This design helps keep the heat from the motor and wires out of the water, ensuring a healthier habitat for your aquatic life.
Every pump comes standard with an RF module, enabling you to connect up to 8 pumps. This means they can work together in a synchronized or asynchronous manner, allowing for different modes of operation. Additionally, all VorTech pumps can connect to a Battery Backup, making power outages a thing of the past. The ReefLink system simplifies the control and monitoring of your pumps, allowing you to manage them wirelessly through your laptop, phone, or iPad.

Vortech MP40mQD MODES
FLOW

Lagoon Mode
This mode simulates a low-energy lagoon environment. The pump’s speed adjusts gradually to mimic the gentle currents found in lagoons.

Reef Crest Mode
This mode simulates a high-energy reef environment. The pump’s speed changes periodically and drastically, replicating the effect of crashing waves and rising tides. This setting is particularly appreciated by SPS corals.

Gyre Mode
This mode creates a flow pattern with smooth clockwise and anti-clockwise movements, pulsing at intervals ranging from two seconds to two hours. Please note, achieving alternating directional gyre requires multiple pumps.
Short Pulse Mode
Short Pulse mode creates a flow pattern with smooth high and low pulses at intervals between 0.2 seconds and 2 seconds.

Tidal Swell Mode
Tidal Swell mode (TSM) creates a harmonic flow pattern that mimics nature’s changing conditions. Over several hours, the flow transitions from very chaotic to calm, followed by a wave that helps with waste removal at the end of the cycle. The flow direction changes with each cycle.

Nutrient Transport Mode
Nutrient Transport mode (NTM) enables circulation through a two-phase program. In the first phase, wave motion generates waste. The second phase uses upward movement to guide debris into the overflow, helping to maintain a clean aquarium. This mode supports healthy growth for sensitive corals like SPS.
FUNCTION

Feed Mode
With the push of a button, all VorTech® wireless activated pumps will pause their current mode, allowing you to add food to the tank without it being swept into the overflow and filtration.

Night Mode
This mode allows the pumps to run at a gentler setting, simulating calmer ocean conditions during the night hours.

Wave Auto-Tune
This function helps create a standing wave in your aquarium, showcasing the full potential of the VorTech® QuietDrive® control system.
CAPABILITY

Multi-Pump Communication
All VorTech® pumps marked “w” come with an installed RF module. This module allows up to 8 “w” pumps of each type to operate together in synchronous, anti-synchronous, or coordinated modes.

Battery Backup Mode
Whether it is a snowstorm, hurricane, or an unfortunate incident with a utility pole, power outages happen. The VorTech® pumps are compatible with the EcoTech® Battery Backup accessory, ensuring your aquarium remains functional.
